I have received many calls in the past for frantic owners who continually decide to use relatives to watch their dogs and then the relatives “bail” on them a week prior to vacation. Why is this necessary to do to yourselves? If you know that you have unreliable family members or family that are way, way, way too old to watch a pit bull,….then why ask them?
It is not in the best interest of your pet or that family member to take on your pets needs. Nor will they take the time and energy to entertain that dog because, “it’s not their animal.”
I understand the logic behind doing this, you are trying to save money for your vacation. However, if you know you need to send your dog to a proper boarding facility, then you should also allot for the boarding price in your vacation plans too. This will ensure that your dog will be happy and healthy with other dogs and that your family members won’t be “put out” by your dogs energy needs.
Dog boarding should not break the bank when you leave town. But, if you have more than 2,….it may be pricey. But I bet your veterinarian bills are also pricey,….

In other words—– What is your dogs happiness worth to you?
